UK Status Resident. Widespread and fairly common throughout the British Isles. Montgomeryshire Status Probably much more common than records suggest. Wingspan : M & F, 7-9mm. Confusion species Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species. It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. |

(Bivoltine)  Habitat Wherever the foodplant is found. Foodplant Birch. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaves. Larva makes a rather small mine which contorts the leaf, pulling the leaf edges down. Pupates attached to mine in a soft, but tough white cocoon. |
